Ideal for individuals or couples wanting to venture farther than a 5-Day RYA Course takes you - get some interesting and varied passages under-your-belt, and visit some fantastic island and remote locations.
On-Board our Elan 431 8-Berth Sailing Yacht with three double-cabins and a twin, with two toilet/shower rooms, and led by a Senior RYA Yachtmaster® Offshore Instructor with many years of Scottish and international experience, you will be involved in getting the yacht from A - B, and then to C, D, E and wherever else you can reach - there is no set route and inputs are welcome - Hebridean Islands? Canals? Malt Whisky Distilleries?
You don't need any previous sailing experience, but these 7-Days/Nights yachting trips will be ideal for those wanting to put their own experience, or Day / Coastal Skipper qualifications to very good use - you will be expected to take a 'watch', navigate, and help make decisions on-board - "you have control..."

One of the great advantages of a ScotSail® 7 Days/Nights GuidedCharter™, is that you and your crew can choose where you want to go.
Unlike a RYA Course or Skippered Charter, a GuidedCharter™ gives you much more responsibility - and choice about where you go and what you do, but with the added support of having an experienced professional on-board to guide assist and tutor your where required.
Bareboat Charter can be expensive, so we put together individuals and couples who would all like such an experience, so that the costs are shared - and yachting in good company is fun too!
A typical cruise will entail checking-in at our centre at Largs Yacht Haven on a Saturday, meeting your Skipper / Guide and crew-mates to decide potential passage-plans. You will depart either that afternoon and engage in sailing activities and some informal training during the day, whilst en route to a destination.
You will likely cover tens of miles per day, and you will also have the opportunity to participate - or even take charge of - night sailing passages. This cruise would also suit those wanting more experience prior to chartering or for building passages towards other RYA Courses, like Coastal Skipper or Yachtmaster®.
You and your crew will be completely involved in the decisions about where to travel to - and how to get there. This Scottish sailing cruise and holiday is all about the experience - fancy an island malt whisky distillery? Seafood Restaurant? Castles? Think of it and let's go!
Experience stunning mountains, castles, whales, dolphins, seals and birdlife - even sail past Royal Navy submarines and other interesting marine traffic too!

GuidedCharter™ is an experience mile-builder transition between RYA Training and real bareboat charter. A ScotSail®-appointed commercial skipper will accompany you to guide, assist and take ultimate responsibility. You and your crew will be in charge of the boat, will have freedom of choice, but also responsibilities for any damage or losses. The standard security deposit from a charter company is £1000.00. The maximum liability on a GuidedCharter™ is capped at £500.00, per incident (shared between all customers on-board), and is to cover any insurance excess or damages in the event of an incident or accident. |
