A PYG or Private Yacht Group™ is a mixed RYA Course and learn-to-sail holiday, suitable for families, groups of friends or colleagues.   You can mix any RYA course-types on-board, or just come along for an EMB Experience MileBuilder or Pre-Charter / Skills Refresher.   It includes everything just the same as a ScotSail® Sail Cruising Course, and you can bring up to 5 persons, and sometimes people come as just a couple or 3-4 instead.   If you want to bring more people please contact us to discuss your requirements.

A PYG is either a 5 Days & Nights / Full Board (Mon-Fri) OR a 2 Days/Nights / Full Board Weekend (Fri-Sun), with Check-In/ Arrival from 1800hrs on Fridays or Sundays, at our LargsCentre.   Each night is spent on board in cabins, at a different island / location / marina, in the Firth of Clyde & Islands sailing area.   Sailing & training takes place during the day, and there is plenty of opportunity to visit local attractions and go ashore to visit islands and villages.

The Private Yacht Group™ is a more bespoke experience, and usually we can allow you to get more sailing-time, and have much more control over the activities you want to undertake with your family or group - previous PYG clients have mixed their sailing experience not just with a course and learning to sail, but with visiting islands, hill-walking, wildlife and photography expeditions and much more.

A typical PYG course or experience, be it a week or weekends' sailing, will entail leaving our centre at Largs Yacht Haven and engaging in sailing activities and training during the day, whilst en route to a destination. You will likely cover many tens of miles probably over 100+ miles per week, and you will also have the opportunity to participate in an exciting night sail!

You and your crew will be completely involved in the decisions about where to travel to - and how to get there.   This is all part of the course, is vital learning and all part of the fun!   There are plenty of places to travel to - Isle of Arran, Kyles and Isle of Bute, Rothesay, Tartbert, Portavadie, Holy Loch, Rhu, Loch Long and Loch Riddon to name just a few - you can't explore it all in just one week! 

Experience stunning mountains, castles, whales, dolphins, seals and birdlife - even sail past Royal Navy submarines and other interesting marine traffic too!
